Soyabean is amongst the most nutritious of all legumes and is processed to produce items such as soybean flour, protein concentrate, protein isolate, soybean oil, soy milk and bean curd. Soybeans may also be eaten whole and served with salt. Soyabeans are high in protein (40% or greater), are rich in minerals and contain isoflavones which may play a role in preventing cancer and heart disease. Soyabeans may cause bloating and flatulence and can trigger allergic reactions in susceptible people. Soyabeans are native to Eastern Asia.
