Sweet Gherkins

Cucumber is a widely cultivated plant in the gourd family. Cucumber fruit is green, with a fresh, very lightly sweet melon-like flavor. It is cylindrical, with tapered ends. As the fruit becomes fully ripe, it becomes yellow and bitter. Cucumbers may be eaten raw, but they are often pickled.
