Palm oil, which has a fatty acid content which is more stable at high heat than other vegetable oils, is the oil obtained from the fruit of a palm tree. Palm kernel oil is pressed out of the kernel or seed found at the center of the fruits of the oil palm (Elaeis guineensis). Despite being a vegetable fat, palm kernel oil is relatively high in saturated fats and can appear as a semi-solid in temperate or cooler areas.
