Octisalate
Octisalate, or ethylhexyl salicylate, is an active chemical found in sunscreen products that protects the skin from both UVA and UVB rays. It is known to provide a slight floral fragrance and functions as an emollient, providing water resistant properties to the sunscreen formula. While some evidence suggests this ingredient can cause toxicity, the FDA has approved use of this chemical in small amounts (5% or less concentration) because these low levels have been determined to not cause any adverse reactions.
