ACAI BLEND WITH FRUIT & GRANOLA PROTEIN ACAI BOWLS

Acai Puree: this is the pureed form of the fruit from the Acai palm which is native to the Amazon rainforest. It produces fruit that is blueberry sized deep red to purple in colour. The fresh fruit is not seen in the US, as the fruit breaks down very quickly, so cannot withstand transport. It is generally found frozen as whole fruit, juice, puree or ground into capsules or powder. This small fruit contains high levels of antioxidants (particulary Anthocyanins) however; they are unstable and degrade quickly. The berry is almost 90% seed which is rich in amino acids. It is thought to have anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties.
