Psyllium Extract is derived from several members of the genus Plantago, a plant native to Western and Southern Asia. It also grows wild in the southwestern United states, where it is considered a possibly introduced species. Psyllium is commercially grown for its seed husks. They are indigestible and are a source of soluble fiber.
