Spice is any aromatic vegetable substance in the whole, broken, or ground form, except for those substances which have been traditionally regarded as foods, such as onions, garlic and celery. The significant function of spices in food is seasoning rather than nutritional. Spice extracts are the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, derived from the spice. Paprika extract is the oil extracted from paprika which is used to color or flavor food products.
