Apple Cider Vinegar
Cider Vinegar: is made by the juice and pulp of apples, producing an alcoholic apple cider which is allowed to undergo fermentation to form vinegar. This occurs by the sugar in the apples being broken down by yeast into alcohol and then fermented until vinegar is formed. All types of vinegar contain acetic acid but apple cider vinegar also contains some lactic, citric and malic acids. It has been touted as a health tonic cure-all but research seems to suggest that many of these claims are unfounded. However, its effects on blood glucose levels are well researched and suggest that regular consumption may help lower blood glucose levels. However, one must be careful as it also may have the negative consequences of lowering potassium levels and bone density.
