Dextrin
Dextrins are the resulting short chains of glucose that remain after starch has been broken down by dry heat, acid or enzymes, and are used as thickening agents in foods. Dextrins when used as food additives are believed to be identical to those formed in the normal digestion of starch and thus, are considered safe for human consumption.
